 As other female sales decisions are changed, such as culling age, sales before and after mating, and percent spayed, the number of surplus weaner heifers will change. If there are still surplus weaner heifers when all other sales and spaying decisions have been settled, this number of heifer sales can be accepted for sale as weaners, or they can be “spayed” for later sale, or the heifer sale can be shifted to another age. Alternately, other sales percentages for females can be increased to the point where there are no longer any surplus weaner heifers.
